Survivor 48 episode 8 follows the “strong five,” or “strong six,” depending on what alliance member you’re talking to. As for potential alliance members, it could be possible a team of Joe, Eva, Shauhin, Kyle, and David are the strong five. Or you could add Mary to the mix to make it a six-member alliance.
There was also a prior alliance with the swapped Vula tribe where Joe, Shauhin, Kyle, and Kamilla were tightly aligned. However, when the buffs are set aside and alliances are tested, no one is considered safe in the latest episode of Survivor.
Who Pairs with Who in Survivor 48 Episode 8
During Survivor 48 episode 8, the group of castaways had to separate into pairs to compete in the immunity challenge. All of the players determined their groups before the immunity challenge, which turned out to be a multi-staged event where only so many pairings made it through each stage. The first three pairs (of five) made it to stage two, and the two who failed to make it through stage one would then go on a journey to determine which player would lose their vote at the next tribal council.
The remaining three pairs would compete to make it through the next stage of the challenge where only two pairs would earn a spot to compete for immunity. In this instance, David and Mary, and Joe and Eva, would outlast Kyle and Chrissy to compete for individual immunity. David, Mary, Joe, and Eva are then placed on a classic Survivor challenge where each player has to hold onto a tall wooden post where the last person “standing” without touching the ground wins.
In this case, Eva is able to hold out over Mary and win immunity. It is very clear that this challenge has changed over the years. The depth of the “foot holes” has definitely decreased over the years, so it’s clear players aren’t able to use those gaps in the wood to stand tall, but barely have a place to grasp anything to help stay “afloat.” Eva clearly indicated her strength as a hockey player where the strength in her legs seemed to help her win.
Vote with that Survivor 48 Alliance, Maybe
David wanted to vote out Kamilla because Shauhin was (seemingly) wanting to work with her by picking to work with her for the immunity challenge. When other people were okay with voting Kamilla, Kyle seemed clearly upset by this information. Not only is Kyle and Kamilla a secret duo, they have been working with the majority over the past few votes.
David is clearly frustrated by Kyle’s opposition in voting for Kamilla, especially since she’s not with the designated “strong five,” or “strong six,” if you include Mary like David wants. Regardless of whether he likes Kyle, it’s clear David’s confusion and apprehension to Kyle’s support of keeping Kamilla should be a clear indicator that David is recognizing hidden alliances, even if they aren’t being said aloud.
Kyle tries to flip it to another player, which makes sense for Joe when he learns that Chrissy was trying to vocalize opposition to the “strong players” left in the game. In this case, Chrissy wants to vote out Joe, and that contradiction to the Kamilla vote seems to sway enough people to maintain whatever alliances they believe are relevant.
Chrissy is voted out, while Shauhin is the only other player to receive one vote. After an entire episode where Kamilla seemed like a possible target, she didn’t even receive one single vote. Does that mean Kyle did enough to save her game? Was she able to manufacture enough goodwill with her previous votes to save herself? Or did Chrissy say enough bad stuff at tribal council to have players vote her out regardless of another possible plan going into tribal council?
